An exhibition of art work by pupils at Latimer Education Centre.
The Latimer Education Centre is a Pupil Referral Unit which provides full time education for young people aged from 11 to 16. We are part of TBAP, Tri-borough partnership between Westminster City Council, Hammersmith and Fulham Council and The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. We offer a secure and welcoming environment for some of West london's most challenged and challenging young people.
We provide the young people who are referred to us with a fresh start to their education. We endeavour to provide a holistic, personalised approach for each of our learners. Our hope is that by creating a supportive and engaging environment, the young people in our care can take responsibility for their learning and behaviour and take the next step in their education.
Pupils at Latimer Education Centre have been investigating stereotypes of young people. Each young person has created a unique hoodie sculpture that expresses their identity or prejudice they have experienced. We are thrilled to be working with Muse Gallery in Portobello in the current exhibition of their work.
We empower the young people to give voice to their feelings and reflect upon the stories behind their sculptures. They have written analytically and creatively in response to their work.
